A: OED is a Freeware offered to assist any individual, organization or institutions for rapid setup and establishment of a best practice web-based environmental database platform to display, analyze, disseminate and/or download environmental or related data with spatial nature.
Q: How can I use OED?
A: As a Freeware, OED is good for concept proofing, prototyping, studies, user buy-in or implementation for access by a small group of users. However, should you or your organization have some other needs or uncertain of your requirements, contact us for a needs assessment.
Q: How can I get a copy of OED?
A: Simply register to this website. Then, send a request to us. Once verified, a Freeware copy together with installation note will be provided to assist you and/or your organization to undertake installation and setup.
Q. Can I use OED in any or other commercial products or services?
A: As OED is offered for free, it is restricted for use in non-commercial or non-profit making or generation purposes, activities or events. However, should there be interest to utilize OED for other commercial or profit-making or generation purpose, please contact us.
Q: Are there any restrictions in using OED?
A: Again, as OED is offered for free to assist individual or organization for rapid setup of an environmental web platform or site, the requested Freeware copy and/or material CANNOT be further copied, distributed or transferred in any means, form or media to any one or part(ies) other than the requester. Notwithstanding this, should there be interest in this regard, please contact us directly.
Q: Can I or my organization use my own data to set up OED?
A: Yes, in fact it is encouraged for you or your organization to collect and prepare your desired spatial data in order to set up data layers in your OED. Besides built-in functions, OED comes with a Spatial Data Layer Creation and Update Tool to upload and/or update of data layers by yourself. Thereafter, uploaded data layers can then be configured to your desired symbology and display order.
Q: Can I get back the data I created in OED?
A: Yes, besides the data you uploaded to OED, any created data in OED can be exported in GeoJSON format for backup and archive. Along this, it is encouraged to regularly download or export your data for backup or archive purpose.
Q: Would there be help or assistance offered to identify and prepare my data for OED?
A: Yes, whilst note and courtesy advices will be provided on how to prepare and upload your spatial data to OED, should you or your organization opt for us to help with data, installation and/or other aspects, hourly support services is offered. Likewise, should package or tailored support services or hours be required, please contact us.
Q: What if I cannot install or set up OED by myself or my organization?
A: Though installation note is provided, as a best practice environmental database platform, certain IT knowledge would still be required. Notwithstanding that courtesy support and advice will be provided, should you or your organization opt for us to install OED for you, installation services is available.
